On June 5, 2010, a devastating series of storms swept across Northwest Ohio. Numerous tornados left a path of destruction that consumed 7 lives, a high school, police station and numerous homes. I went out with my camera early the next morning without really knowing the extent of what had happened just hours before. What I saw impacted me in a way that’s hard to describe. To see the utter devastation, the lives forever altered… it was simply overwhelming.
It felt very strange walking around with my camera taking pictures. While I am in no way a photojournalist, I discovered a new appreciation for the work that they do. Capturing difficult, sometimes extreme, situations and trying to tell a story with their images. These are just a few of the images from that morning.
