I recently had the chance to shoot the Midwest Rock-n-Roll Express tour with Styx, REO Speedwagon and Ted Nugent. It was a great night of reliving some classic rock memories from my childhood and having a chance to get up close and personal to some music legends.
One of the things I love most about concert photography is that I get to merge my 2 passions – music and photography – into one event. While shooting the Styx set, I had a moment when I realized that I’m standing just a few feet away from the guys that were some of my early influences as I learned how to play guitar.
I mean seriously, I wore out my records and cassettes learning how to play these classic songs (yes, I realize I’m dating myself a bit here).
It was a great night of music and photography. Here are a few of my favorites from the Styx set. I’ll be sharing images from the REO Speedwagon and Ted Nugent sets soon.
