Strange as it may seem, up until a couple of years ago I never really thought about combining my 2 passions – music and photography. I have the privilege of playing guitar and singing at a very cool church called CedarCreek. For the last 18 months or so I’ve been coming out and shooting some of the services on weekends that I’m not playing. You can see some of those images over on my facebook page by clicking here. Since I’ve launched this site, I figured I’d start sharing them here as well.
Usually when I go to shoot a service, I’m there for the production run through as well. This gives me a chance to get a feel for who is doing what and what kind of staging and lighting I’m going to be dealing with. I didn’t do that today. It was much more of a “run and gun” kind of approach. Most concert photographers are used to only getting to shoot the first 3 songs of a band’s set without any real preparation. I felt a little bit of that pressure today.
Today I mainly focused on the two lead vocalists, Ben and Lindsey. Here are a few of the pics from today’s service.
Very nice pictures, Jeff. You did a great job. I thought that was you in front of me on Sunday and was wondering why you had a camera!!
Thanks so much Margaret. I appreciate the kind words.
Well done, We can see and appreciate the effects of ultra fast lenses.. nice job!
Thanks Craig. Glad you liked the pics. Yeah, fast lenses are a must with this lighting. These shots were the 70-200 2.8, but my 1.8 primes do an even better job.
