Today I say a bittersweet goodbye to my little girl. It’s a day I’ve been looking forward to with excitement for her and a day I’ve been dreading all at the same time. As she heads off to college, this marks a major milestone in all our lives. The end of one big chapter and the start of another.
Today is a special day. It’s my brother’s birthday and the day that this special young lady, his daughter Alyssa, leaves home and heads off to college. Where has the time gone?
I was talking to my brother last night about how it feels like it was just yesterday she was born. That memory is so vivid. All the events of her life are so clear in our minds that it’s hard to believe that 18 years has flown by. I feel his excitement, his trepidation and his heartache as I prepare to send my own daughter off to college next week. It’s a day that I know isn’t going to be easy. It’s hard to even write those words without getting a lump in my throat…
I have known the Kanable family for years and I’m proud to call them friends. Years ago, we used to be neighbors and our families spent more time hanging out at their pool than I can remember. Good memories indeed. I was fortunate to shoot senior portraits for Corey’s older brother and sister so I was honored when she recently asked me to shoot hers as well.
I’ve known Sean and his family for a long time. From the years as backyard neighbors to all the years Sean and our son, Sam, played soccer together. They are good people and I was honored when they asked me to take Sean’s senior pictures.
We’ve been friends with the Kanable’s for a long time. As neighbors, we spent many summer days and nights hanging out at their pool. Fond memories. It’s hard to believe, but their oldest son Jake is graduating from high school this year. I was honored that they asked me to take his senior pictures.
