What can I say about the Patton family? These guys were fun! We had a such a great time on this shoot. I’ve known Diana for a while now from our work together at CedarCreek and I was thrilled when she asked me to take some family pictures for them.

The story was a familiar one. “We haven’t had a family picture taken in years…” I’m not sure why many of us fall into that trap. Myself included. We’re too busy. It’s too expensive. We can do it later. There’s always a reason. As my own kids get older and I look back through my photo library, I’m disappointed that we didn’t take more family pictures. Sure, I have a lot of candid snapshots, but being the photographer in the family means there are very few images of all of us together. It’s kind of sad.

One of the things I love about photography is the ability to capture a moment in time and preserve it forever. I never cease to be amazed at how I’m transported right back to the precise moment I made a picture. It’s not just a visual for me. All of my senses light up. The sounds, the smell, the little moments before and after the picture was made. I love that!

So, thank you Diana. Thanks for reaching out and asking me to capture this moment in time for your family. I was honored to be a part of that special day. Let’s do it again soon :).
